چکیده

A modal analysis procedure is used to model suspended compressors and their excitation forces. The modal method evaluates the dynamic spring forces, modal spring forces, and modal forcing function to determine the effects of a change in suspension configuration on transmitted spring forces. Valuable design insight is gained since the modal parameters explain the behavior of suspension systems during steady state compressor motion concisely. Also, many suspension configuration~ can be analyzed due to the cost effectiveness of the modal procedure. A parameter study is done to illustrate an application of the procedure.

Modal analysis of a turbo-pump shaft: An innovative suspending method to improve the results

Modal parameter extraction of high speed shafts is of critical importance in mechanical design of turbo-pumps. Due to the complex geometry and peripheral components of turbo-pumps, difficulties can arise in determination of modal parameters. In this study, modal properties of a turbo-pump shaft, was studied by experimental modal analysis, and using different excitation techniques. An innovative...

Helical Coil Suspension Springs in Finite Element Models of Compressors

This paper discusses two approaches to modeling helical suspension springs for use in a dynamic finite element compressor model. The first approach represents the spring's stiffness characteristics with a simple spring element matrix. The appropriate spring constants are calculated using a separate finite element model of the spring. The spring modeling procedure is described and supplemented w...

A 2-D Numerical Investigation on the Modal Characteristics of Rotating-Stall with a Variable-Cascade- Length Approach in an Axial Compressor

The Rotating-Stall (RS) through a rotor-cascade of an axial compressor were numerically investigated with an unsteady two-dimensional finite-volume density based computer code. To validate the computer code, a test case was prepared and the good agreement of the compared results has given the adequate assurance of the code. The RS was incepted with a 40% reduction in flow coefficient and a 0.4%...

Development of a compression system dynamic simulation code for testing and designing of anti-surge control system

In recent years, several research activities have been conducted to develop knowledge in analysis, design and optimization of compressor anti-surge control system. Since the anti-surge control testing on a full-scale compressor is limited to possible consequences of failure, and also the experimental facility can be expensive to set up control strategies and logic, design process often involves...

Numerical Investigation of Rotating-Stall in a Stage of an Axial Compressor with Two Different Approaches

An unsteady two-dimensional finite-volume solver was developed based on Van Leer’s flux splitting algorithm in conjunction with “Monotonic Upstream Scheme for Conservation Laws (MUSCL)” limiters and the two-layer Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model was also implemented. To validate the solver, two test cases were prepared and the computed results had good agreements with reference data. The rotating...
